MadFish reached a certain notoriety with nationwide radio plays in the UK, with their 2014 UK World Cup Song winning anthem, ‘England’. Notably they were featured on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5 Live.
The song competition was filled with controversy, when the organiser Mark Bellinger closed down the website and did a runner on the final day of the competition. He refused to pay out the promised prizes, when his own multiple entries failed to win both the top World and the individual Country prizes.
MadFish’s first album ‘Chocolate Ice Cream’ was released digitally in June 2014, featuring 16 tracks plus the ‘England’ single. The 18 track CD Remaster version followed in November 2014, which now included their new Christmas Single ‘Stay With Me This Christmas Time’.
In November 2016 MadFish released their second album, the double 38 track ‘1979 The Story of Billy’. This was followed in December 2017 with ‘1979 Special Edition’, which was fully remastered and included new mixes of many of the tracks. MadFish have continued releasing singles from this album, reworking several of the songs as single versions. The latest single ‘Banana Splits’ was released in November 2019.
MadFish carry on with the traditions of The Head, Gregor’s late 70’s band, with a Mod/Punk sound geared to the 21st Century.
